Heliconia rostrata popularly known as the Lobster claw flower A distant relative of the banana this plant produces one of the most colourful inflorescence of the plant kingdom. The pendulous inflorescence is produced in summer and can grow to 3ft long. We believe that in tropical climates it can flower throughout the year. Best when grown on in a large pot or tub with many stems. Habitat: From what information we could gather this species is originally from the Amazon region and now grown all over the world. Ethnobotany: Not known
