Ardisia macrocarpa A cool growing bush of our region it has dark green leaves with undulate margins. The plant is a compact grower and does not spread out too much. It has a habit of branching from the apical portion of the stem. Profuse small star shaped white flowers is early summer produce many berries in autumn. Throughout winter and early spring the red berries stay on the plant giving it a very decorative look. Ideal for growing as a pot plant for indoor decoration. Habitat: This species is spread throughout the eastern Himalayas. Ethnobotany: Though not a fruit crop, the berries are edible and children are quite fond of it. They have a mild sweet taste.
