Crinium amoenum
This plant is seen all over these hills particularly by shaded banks of hill streams. It has large bulbs and leaves that are slightly channeled. Flowers on a tall stem to about 18 inches. Individual flowers are large but have narrow petals. Very showy when in full bloom though the flowers do not last long. Flowering period is during the summer monsoon months. The local name is derived from this fact. Asar=the month corresponding from mid-June to mid-July and Phool=flower. Asar also refers to the early monsoon period
