Agapanthus africanus

African Blue Lily

Originating in South Africa this plant is now grown all over the world for it beautiful blue flowers. It has a tuberous  root stock with fleshy roots and dark green strap shaped leaves up to 2ft long. In mid summer it produces a tall spike with a head of blue flowers. 

We have seen this plant being grown outdoors in cold areas of these hills which are subject to winter frost.
